The Ikelite DSLR housing is a seamless blend of functionality, lighting integration, durability and waterproof integrity.

The Ikelite Nikon D3300 DSLR UW housing is a seamless blend of functionality, lighting integration, durability and waterproof integrity.

TTL advantage. Other housings simply waterproof your camera. An Ikelite TTL housing improves your photos. TTL or "Through-The-Lens" flash metering means the camera controls flash duration to properly expose an image.

Exposure adjustments directly through the back of the housing put the perfect shot within reach every time. Tweak your TTL exposure or take total manual control without taking your hand off of your housing.

Construction. Special polycarbonate blends allow us to create an extremely strong yet clear and lightweight enclosure. We believe there's no substitute for inspecting the actual o-ring seal once your housing is closed. Our signature clear construction lets you see that the housing is watertight and dry before you enter the water, and provides full view of the camera while you're diving.

Nauticam SMC close up lens is specifically deigned and made for underwater use and gives a magnification factor of 2.3x. (+15)

Nauticam SMC

Nauticam is pleased to introduce an underwater macro photography lens design providing
higher magnification than competing systems with unprecedented image quality.

Breakthrough Lens Design
Prior to the Super Macro Converter, achieving “super macro” underwater meant using tools that were
designed for in air use. These tools simply do not take into account the physics of shooting in water.

Uncompromised Optical Quality
The Super Macro Converter is constructed from lenses are precision crafted of specially formulated low
dispersion optical grade glass, ground to the most demanding standards.

Stunning Magnification
When combined with a full frame camera and a 100mm or 105mm macro lens, the device converts the
optical system to provide a maximum of 2.3X magnification factor.

Ample Working Distance
Even at the maximum 2.3X magnification, there is still more than 50mm of working distance between the
front element and the subject with 100/105mm macro lenses.

Avoiding Diffraction
Due to the overall superior optical performance of the SMC it is possible to shoot larger apertures with
excellent image quality.

There are Around 440 Known Species of Sharks!

Endangered sharks

There are many iconic species of sharks - the Great White in the film Jaws was burned into popular cutlure, for better and for worse - but they are still a very small subsection of the over 400 shark species that have been discovered by humans so far. Unfortunately, being overlooked by popular culture doesn't give these lesser known species any protection, and many of them are endangered. It is estimated that up to 100 million sharks are killed by people every year, due to commercial and recreational fishing. Meanwhile, the "average number of fatalities worldwide per year between 2001 and 2006 from unprovoked shark attacks is 4.3". Kind of a skewed ratio, no?

I want to give you an overview of endangered shark species, some of which most people have never heard about, yet their role as top sea predators is just as important as any of the more photogenic species. Obviously we can't cover all endangered sharks in one post, there are simply too many, but we'll try to show how much variety there is among sharks.

Note that some species are so rare now that it's hard to find photos of them.
