Introducing NA-A7V

The Sony a7V camera

Sony’s latest camera in the a7 line-up, the a7 V, boasts a 33MP Exmor RS CMOS Full-Frame Sensor, the first to utilize a partially stacked sensor. This sensor delivers enhanced readout speeds and reduced rolling shutter, conferring several flagship-level advantages. These include improved subject recognition and tracking, accelerated continuous shooting performance, and enhanced image quality with an impressive 16 stops of dynamic range.

Another pivotal factor contributing to the camera’s enhanced speed and overall performance is the introduction of the BIONZ XR2 processor. This processor incorporates an AI unit, thereby enhancing autofocus, improving color accuracy, and ensuring consistent auto white balance.

The enhanced processing capabilities enable blackout-free 30fps continuous shooting with full-time autofocus. Furthermore, the camera supports 7K-oversampled 4K 60p video recording and high-speed 4K 120p recording utilizing a S35 area. The a7 V can be configured to commence recording images to the buffer upon half-pressing the shutter button, and the in-body image stabilization system has been upgraded, supporting up to 7.5 stops of camera shake compensation.

The Nauticam Underwater Housing

The NA-A7V underwater housing provides fingertip access to all key camera controls in a rugged and reliable aluminum underwater housing. Ergonomic camera control access is one of the defining strengths of a Nauticam housing, and the NA-A7V continues this tradition. Essential camera parameter changes are made from the handles, without awkward reaches.

The NA-A7V housing inherits the core design elements from the Nauticam pro DSLR range, and bundles them in a more compact package. A patented port locking lever allows lens changes to be made in seconds. Opening the housing for quick battery and media changes is fast and easy with the locking housing latches. All aspects of the system are a seamless extension of the camera.

Lens ports & wet lenses

When you know what lens you want to use then you check Nauticam's updated port charts to find the recommended lens port or wet lens solution (sold separately).

There are different port charts depending on your underwater housing's port size (N120, N100, N85 or N50), and which camera brand. You will probably find more than one port combination, or wetlens solution.

Premium professional optics

Nauticam’s professional water-contact optics deliver the highest underwater image quality. The FCP, WACP, and WWL lines enhance wide-angle, while the MFO and SMC offer exceptional macro and super macro capabilities. The EMWL allows you to shoot macro, wide-angle, or combine the styles for unique images.

Mission control

In true Nauticam fashion, essential controls are placed as close to the handles as possible, making these housings the most intuitive and user-friendly available. Our engineers strategically position controls where they’re needed most, rather than simply near the corresponding buttons on the camera. Dials feature rubberized finger grooves, and levers are designed for smooth operation.

Vacuum check & leak detection system

The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-A7V as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (PN 256254), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.
